Device Grading — What to expect from your device
Every device sold at EdTech Supply tells a different story. Some look brand new, others show a little life. We use a simple grading system so you know exactly what you're getting, before you hit hit "buy."
Our grades are purely cosmetic. Every device we sell has been fully tested and works the way it should.
How we inspect each device
We inspect devices closely under bright light.
We check the screen, body/frame, buttons, battery, and ports for signs of wear.
We separate cosmetic wear from functional issues.
If a device doesn’t pass our functional tests, it’s either repaired or recycled responsibly.
Our Grading Standards
Overall look
Clean and barely used. No major cosmetic issues.
No major cosmetic or
functional issues.
Screen
No visible scratches in the active display area. Possibly 1–2 tiny marks around the bezel area.
At most, 1–2 tiny marks
around the bezel that
you’d only see if you go
looking for them.
Body & Frame
No dents or bends.
No visible pitting, chips,
or discoloration.
Ports may show minimal wear.
Functionality
Fully functional and
tested, ready to use
out of the box.
Usually looks nearly new. No or few noticeable marks on the screen. No dents or major wear.
Overall look
Clearly used but well cared for.
No functional issues.
Screen
May have light hairline scratches.
Scratches should be hard to see when the screen is on.
May have specks of dust; not usually noticeable during normal use.
Body & Frame
A few light scratches are possible.
No dents or bends.
Minimal wear around ports, with no exposed metal.
Functionality
Fully functional and tested.
Light wear from normal use. Small, faint scratches are possible. No dents. Fully functional.
Overall look
Noticeable signs of use.
Screen
Moderate to heavy scratching is possible.
Scratches and any tiny chips should not significantly affect usability.
Small, edge-area white spots may be present.
Body & Frame
Small dents are allowed.
Scratches with exposed metal are allowed.
Pitting and visible wear around ports are allowed.
Functionality
Fully functional and tested.
Noticeable wear, including scratches and small dents. May have visible marks, but everything works as expected.

We grade every device based on its cosmetic appearance, not its functionality. All devices we sell are fully tested and fully functional regardless of grade. Our three condition tiers — Excellent, Good, and Proven — describe how the device looks, so you can choose the option that fits your priorities and budget. You'll see the condition grade listed on each product page. For a full breakdown of what to expect at each tier, see our grading chart above.
We test battery performance as part of our inspection process. While batteries naturally degrade with use, we aim to offer devices with batteries that support normal daily use.
We do our best to grade every device accurately, but if you feel the cosmetic condition of your device doesn't match the listed grade, please reach out to us.
We offer free ground shipping on orders over $50. Most orders ship within 2 business days and typically arrive within 7 business days, depending on your location. Premium shipping options are available on most orders. You'll receive tracking information once your order ships.
Each product listing specifies what's included. In most cases, devices come with a compatible charger. Check the product page for details on what ships with your device.
Every device includes a 90-day limited warranty covering manufacturing defects and functional issues under normal use. It does not cover accidental damage, water damage, misuse, or unauthorized repairs. Every device goes through our multi-point inspection process before it's listed for sale. We test core functions, including the screen, battery, buttons, ports, cameras, speakers, and connectivity, to help ensure the device is ready for everyday use.
